Amputation: If your veterinarian is recommending amputation, please ask them for one week to try our product first. Many vets now recommend the TailSaver as a non-surgical treatment for happy tail syndrome.

Buckles / Ripped Material: Our products are built for normal wear and tear. If anything tears, rips, or comes loose without your dog chewing it, please let us know. We want to hear about potential defects and will help you get a replacement.

Cancel Order: Yes, you can cancel your order and receive a full refund if it hasn't been shipped yet. We process orders quickly, but we'll do our best to stop the shipment upon your request.

Cats: We're currently developing a tail sleeve specifically for cats and are looking for beta testers! Contact us to learn more about our cat beta test program.

Chafing / Sore Under Tail: Chafing happens if the soft pad underneath the tail is too tight. Adjust the fit to be gentle and comfortable in that area.

Chewing (General): Chewing is common in the first two days because the product is new and unfamiliar. Use a plastic cone (E-collar) or soft recovery collar when your dog is home alone until they're used to wearing the TailSaver.

Chewing (Low on Sleeve): Chewing low on the sleeve might mean your dog is feeling pain or intense itching from the wound itself. Manage the wound care and use a temporary cone until the itching passes.

Crate & Kennel Use: Crates and kennels are fine. To prevent chewing while unsupervised in the crate during the first two days, use a protective cone collar.

Curled / Fluffy Tails: Before putting the sleeve on, loosely wrap the fluffy tail with self-sticking wrap (like Vet Wrap) temporarily. Once the sleeve is on and adjusted, you can remove the temporary wrap.

Discounts (International): Use code INTERNATIONAL15 for 15% off your order to help cover shipping costs.

Discounts (Returning Customer): Use code healthytail during checkout as a thank you for coming back!

Exchanges: We can exchange any item that doesn't fit. Sending us a photo helps us pick the perfect replacement size. Sleeves and straps can often be trimmed down if they're too long.

Falling Off / Tail Came Out:

  1. Centering the sleeve: The top of the sleeve must stay centered on your dog's hips. Gradually tighten the blue and red tagged straps over 24 hours (locking them in place) until the sleeve no longer shifts off center. After each adjustment, check under the tail to ensure a comfortable, gentle fit—not overly tight.

  2. Controlling tail height: Your dog's tail should not lift as high as their hips. The yellow-tagged strap goes over the tail to allow enough lift for bathroom use, but not past hip level.

Harness (Using Your Own): Yes, you can. Make sure your harness is stable and doesn't wiggle side-to-side. You can use zip ties to connect our straps to your harness.

Instructions & Video: Find our full video tutorials and step-by-step guides on our Instructions for Fit and Adjustments page.

Labels Don't Match (Mismatched Sizes): This is by design. We pair different size sleeves and harnesses for optimal fit or for custom orders and for a few sizes. If the Tail Sleeve comes up 1/3 of rump or less and is longer than the tail thats good. Straps may be too long but are trimmable as long as edges are melted right away.

Padding (Sleeve): We use AirMesh Padding that is breathable, lightweight, and stays dry, providing strong protection without holding moisture.

Poop (Getting on Sleeve): If poop gets on the sleeve, the wag strap likely needs more slack so your dog can lift their tail higher to clear the sleeve during a bowel movement.

Refunds: We offer full product refunds for items returned within 90 days that are clean and like-new.

Replacement Parts: Yes, you can buy just a replacement sleeve, harness, buckles, or straps on our website.

Short Legs: If the wag strap tangles in your short-legged dog's legs, use the alternative loops located on the underside of the tail pad (up high) to lift the strap path higher.

Short-Term Solutions: While you wait for delivery, some customers use toddler pajama pants, putting the dog's hind legs in the legs of the PJs and tucking the tail down one side.

Sizing: Check our Sizing Guide page for detailed charts and measurement instructions.

Straps & Belts: The girth straps should be snug (allowing two fingers of space). You can cut excess straps with scissors and melt the edges to prevent fraying. Check that straps are correctly placed first (text us a photo) as some are tricky. None go around belly.

Tail Injuries: The K9 TailSaver helps with happy tail syndrome, kennel tail, tail anxiety/biting, broken tails, and flea bite sores.

Urine (Getting on Strap): If urine gets on the strap, it's a placement issue. Ensure the strap runs from the hip, through the specific loop underneath the harness, and to the other hip, keeping it out of the urine stream.

Washing: Machine wash and dry (warm or cool heat). Close all Velcro, use unscented gentle soap, and avoid fabric softeners.

Wound Care: The sleeve is breathable. We recommend keeping the wound clean by irrigating it regularly and using any topical products your vet suggests.
