Happy Tail, Happy Dog
Dogs are comfortable wearing the TailSaver™. The injury is protected, they can wag their tails, and ointments you may choose to use will stay on. Its easy to put on and remove, washable and is typically the only bandage needed. TailSaver™ can also be used to prevent Happy Tail Syndrome or the re-occurance of the syndrome.
Happy Tail Syndrome
Happy tail syndrome is tail-tip injury caused by vigorous wagging in spaces where tail impacts walls, door jams, furniture, etc. The tip of the tail breaks open, and at first may just be pink and sore. With continued injury it may spray blood onto the walls when wagging tail hits hard surfaces. Eventually the tail injury will drip blood all the time. Many dogs will lick at the injury, and will tear bandages off within a day or two. Vets have often suggested amputation of the tail to stop pain and suffering for dogs. Usually only medium and large dogs wag strongly enough to injure their tales. The syndrome is more common in dogs with short hair.
