Poor pup had pretty bad happy tail and was leaving blood everywhere in the house, not to mention the pain she was in. This was easy to put on (tip: use hotdogs!), tighten and she didn’t mind it too bad. After 2 weeks, with daily spraying of the recommended solution, plus pain meds & antibiotics from the vet, her tail is as good as new!!
Our sweet Dalmatian has had terrible issues with happy tail over the years. Happy Tail Saver allows him a safe way to recover from a case of happy tail without having to wear a cone so he is able to rest, relax, and recover in a more calm manner than before. We are a few days in to using this product but so far are very pleased. Thank you!
Thank you, thank you!!!!
My German shepherd had a growth on the very end of his tail that needed to be operated on. The vet put the largest Cone on his head to stop him From biting his stitches but he was still able to reach the tip of the tail. The vet changed his bandages three different times and they were chewed off in one day. My dog was in pain, I had blood all over my walls and floors, and at one point in time I heard the vet talk about amputation. My eyes bulged out in my head . All I could see in my mind was my beautiful shepherd’s tail turned into a corgi hind end. A friend of mine saw your company on the internet and suggested I use your “tail saver” I bought it, put it on my dog and BAM!! My dog excepted the unit. His tail was heeled in 10 days with no worries or drama from him. I am delighted. Thank you thank you
You guys are great!! You saw the previous review on how his tail was slipping out and solved the problem! The smaller harness you sent fits so much better and his tail doesn’t come out. When we have people over is when we use the tail strap because he is extra excited and really starts wagging. Thank you so much!
Our dog Jazz has happy tail and we ended up with the murder scene blood splattered walls from him beating his tail against the walls as he walks. The tail saver has helped. He’s not fully healed yet but it definitely helps. He can still wiggle out of the tail attachment but a step in the right direction.
This company is amazing to work with. The first item we ordered kept slipping off of my dog's tail. Julie at the company both emailed and called me to help walk me through the process of how to make sure the item stays in place. She determined that a smaller size might fit better and sent it to me immediately. The new product works PERFECTLY - no more bloody pants and walls! I would definitely recommend this product and company for anyone who has a dog with a way too happy tail!
I got a new work dog (law enforcement) that came from the vendor with a happy tail problem. Our agency vet said they would remove the tail if it didn't stop getting injured. I wasn't having that, so I tried bandages for a few weeks which was completely unsuccessful. I found the Tail Saver online and called the owner who was very helpful. I had some special requirements which she was more than helpful with.
We are 3/4 of the way through our detection school which is pretty rough on the dogs and equipment (its very active). My dog wore the Tail Saver through the first three weeks of training. He had the tail sleeve on if we were inside or he was in his crate resting, and I removed it (but left the harness on) for outside work. The Tail Saver performed exactly as expected and literally saved my dogs tail.
The tip of his tail is completely healed up now and calloused over. I would have paid three times the price for the Tail Saver. This is a fantastic product from a fantastic company, and it survived a very active police k9 training program without a single issue.
My rescue, Lucy, has a paralyzed tail. Likely it was caught in a trap when she was running wild. I believe she has nerve pain and anxiety as she frequently licks it until it is beyond raw. I have tried EVERYTHING I could think of to get it to heal. For about 2 years, she wore a donut collar and that worked great. Then she figured out how to get around the collar. In an act of desperation, my son discovered the K9 Tailsaver. I was reluctant to spend the money for this product, but felt like I didn't know what else to try. I put the Tailsaver on Lucy and she chewed through the straps. So I called the company, at my wits end and almost in tears. Julie was so kind and brainstormed with me different ways to place the Tailsaver and position the straps on my dog. Holy cow- it has worked. The tip of putting Vicks on the device is a good one so Lucy doesn't chew it. The customer support for this product is over and above anything you could imagine. What a relief! Thank you, Julie.
Honestly, this product is the ONLY thing that worked for Charlie’s “happy tail” wound. It took MONTHS with a cone and he still found a way to chew it. Overwhelmed, I googled what others did for their dogs in this situation and Happy Tail Saver came up! Without hesitation, I purchased, willing to try anything. Wow. I AM SO GLAD I DID. What a difference in just 2 weeks! Doctor said he may have needed a tail amputation, but nope! Thanks to you guys, this was the best $70 we’ve ever spent!!! Thank you!!!!
This is a great product. very well made and easy to adjust. Unfortunately for use it did not work for the thin tail and location of injury. I think it would work great for other people.
Our dog was working her tail due to an allergy removing her hair and leaving an exposed sore. Bandage and cone would not work. This worked perfectly! And she loves the harness! So thankful for this and worth every penny!
We got this 2 weeks ago and have had a clean tail and clean walls since! It’s the only thing that has worked for our 80 lb lab who flung off every sock, syringe cap, and pool noodle we tried previously. Surgery isn’t imminent for her anymore. Thanks so much!!
Really wonderful . Nothing else worked . My boxer dog doesn’t even try to chew this .
My dog has split her tail and then nibbled it to leave it red raw and hairless. She was heading toward an amputation and at only 1 year old I really was prepared to do anything to save it! Despite the high fees for postage to the UK I decided it was a price worth paying and it certainly was! It took literally 10 mins for me to adjust the harness to fit….. my dog is very tolerant and well used to wearing harnesses so she just stood there and let me do it. I used a cone on her for the first two days and she has left the buckles alone since I stopped using it. It’s been a godsend as she eats bandages whole which is obviously not ideal! The fact the tail is able to get air to it has increased the healing massively. As my dogs tail was red raw I thought it might still rub the wound as she wagged her tail in the tail saver but it hasn’t at all. We have had the tail saver one week and her hair is already starting to grow back. She had a check up at the vet and they were amazed it had started to heal as they thought she would definitely have to have the infected end removed! Plus we now have this for the future which means the tail won’t ever be left to get so bad again! A high quality product which has definitely saved my dogs tail!!! I have put a pic of the tail infected and one of it after a week of using the tail saver.
We tried many ways of curing "happy tail" which is not in the least happy. We followed what the vet recommended and methods fron online to no avail. She was smart and clever tbeoable to reach her tail. Finally, a friend found K9 Tail Saver. Initially, she was able to get her tail out but we called the support line to receive micro tweaking info from Julie. After sending photos she discovered we needed a slightly different tail cover which she promptly mailed out. Fantastic customer service with all directions written in English as a first language. We're in the healing process. Thanks!
Worked great for my little poodle boy. No issue staying on and allowed the cut on his tail to heal.
I was told about the K9 Tail Saver at a walk in clinic when my dog wasn’t feeling well. I mentioned her recurring issues with “happy tail” and the bloody mess I have to clean up in my house; let alone trying to keep it protected so it can heal. This product was shipped fast and had great instructions. It did take about 30-45 mins as they note. My dog luckily was very patient and compliant as I took it on and off while adjusting. Worthwhile investment if your dog has chronic happy tail.
I was skeptical of this being effective for my dog since she freaks out over things like e-collars and chews off tail wraps.
But this was the best purchase I've ever made for her! She doesn't protest much to having it put on and didn't touch it at all. It's effectively protected her tail from hitting against everything and allowed time for the wound to heal.
We used it continuously for a few weeks with some breaks to wash it or let her have some freedom, and I've noticed hair loss on her chest where the vest was.
The instructions for the wag strap didn't suit us, but I found it was needed to prevent the sleeve from sliding off. Following the instructions for between the legs, the strap would be cutting into her and make potty impossible with it on. Instead, I had the wag strap over her hind legs and wrapped around her waist.
Her tail is getting better it just taking time she had her tail pretty raw could not of got it healed without the tail saver
My beagle had to have surgery on her back and had so much nerve pain she literally ate through her tail. Another surgery got the tail and once her back was better the tail saver is her buddy . AMAZING
Easy to put on, stays on, great on my pitbull, worth the money
My dog had a lump removed from her tail that left a hole, not enough skin to close. She then knocked her tail and made the wound bleed. I ordered the tail saver and I fitted as soon as I received it. The tail saver protected the tail from further trauma and she has not tried to lick or bite the tail saver at all. The wound has almost healed up now. I wish I had got this before her surgery.
I was at my wits end trying to keep my dog Brandi from licking her tail injury and was pleased to find this tail saver, but wondered if it would work. It did! Initial set up of is rather complex but the instructions are impressively detailed, which helps a lot. Brandi didn't seem to mind wearing the harness but she's an extreme escape artist, and kept finding ways to get to her tail when unsupervised. I contacted the seller who had me send a couple photos, then suggested adjustments that worked perfectly. If you are looking at this review I suspect you understand the desperation. I am here to tell you this thing works!
I've purchased these because of my dogs anxiety. She chews her tail ;( She's She's grate dane lab mix and no cone would stop her. found this on a search and Julie was wonderful!! She even sent me an free one because she wanted to help! The new design is amazing and we still need to use it here and there. Thanks Tailsaver for saving Bella's tail! Forever grateful🙏
Didn't find this until my dog had already chewed her tail to the point of needing an amputation, nothing we tried worked for more than a couple days. We got it in time to use it for a few days prior to her scheduled surgery and it worked well. After surgery was another story. Her tail was shorter but not a bob tail or complete amputation, probably 6 inches long, so we used the tailsaver once again to keep her from messing it up, since cones are a joke to her. The opening of the sleeve on the underside by the base of the tail is not stitched all the way to the padded piece that rests against the anus and she managed to chew off her bandages and her tail thru this small opening requiring another vet visit to re-suture the tail up. I'm not sure why it isn't stitched all the way up? I hand stitched it up to the pad and it seems to be working. Just seems silly to have that opening. Longer tails probably all good but shorter tails beware.
