Note: for size Small: We have size small and XS in the K9 TailSaver in a style that is a little diferent than in the photos as it's a model with snaps (wrapped in velcro) on the harness. We like it for dog's comfort and a secure closure, but switched to buckles to make it more simple. What's Included:
Support Harness: This comfortable harness secures the Tail-Sleeve and features adjustable straps and fasteners for easy on and off. Made from AirMesh with a ripstop nylon exterior for water resistance and a flexible neoprene neck for comfort, it's designed for long wear with no pressure points.
Protective Tail Sleeve and Wag Strap: This secure & breathable sleeve fully encases dog's tail, the durable cotton canvas and quick-dry AirMesh allows for airflow for fast healing. Adjustable straps with five strategically placed anchor points to the harness prevent twisting and keep the sleeve secure and comfortable. * Harness sizes match your ordered size, Sleeve labels are paired with a metric not always matching the harness.
The Wag Strap keeps tails lower than their pack, but allowing tail to lift to go potty without chaffing or discomfort.
Size: Sleeve sizes are paired by a backend metric. for example: M sleeve is paired with M L and Spec-XL sets and is perfect for dogs less than 31" from neck to rump and weighing 40-80 lbs (Dogs in this group have tails are under 21" long). You need only to choose size by breed and weight to receive the best TailSleeve , wag strap and harness for your dog.
How It Works:
The K9 TailSaver keeps your dog's tail injury clean and covered, allowing for easy wound inspection and healing. Potty breaks while wearing the TailSaver are mess-free and it's comfortable enough for long term wear.
Putting on and removing the TailSaver is simple and takes about 1-2 minutes once the straps are adjusted initially. It involves unfastening four buckles.
Anchoring System:
Four straps hold the Tail Sleeve securely in place and prevent twisting. Two straps run along the back connecting the sleeve to the harness. Another strap provides diagonal support under the chest, and the wag belt positions the tail lower than the dog's back to discourage wagging. All straps are positioned away from your dog's belly for comfort and mess-free potty-time.
Sizing:
We recommend using our size-by-breed chart for the best fit. However, a sizing tool is also provided. If your dog is mixed breed, choose the size based on a similar body type (e.g., Labrador for medium-sized dogs, German Shepherd for long-bodied dogs, Great Dane for giant breeds).

Our happy tail giant breed dog broke her tail. TailSaver as more expensive than some other low cost units, with more straps but does the job better. Watching the video is important how to mount the unit on the dog as it can be somewhat challenging for some. Our dog doesn't care if she is wearing it at all from what we can see. Had a side strap that was too short and was shipped another tail unit express - excellent customer service. Our vet says it is the best anti-waggle harness she has seen. I would suggest an option for a waterproof sleeve to over the breathable tail sleeve as our girl rubs up against greenery. We made a sleeve out of plastic garbage bag when she goes outside.
We had a fantastic experience with Happy TailSaver and can’t recommend it enough! After our pittie mix, Blue, injured his tail at daycare, our vet warned us that amputation might be necessary. In a bit of a panic, we called the company and were lucky to speak directly with someone we believe was the owner. She was incredibly helpful in guiding us through sizing (It turns out Blue is between sizes and on the slender side with a long tail) and offered great tips for achieving the best fit.
The TailSaver itself is thoughtfully designed and clearly well made. It attaches easily to the harness, making it a breeze to remove for quick potty breaks. Blue is an anxious pup, but he tolerates the Tail Saver well—and for some reason, loves the vest harness, which makes us smile every time he puts it on.
After just a few days of using the TailSaver, our vet was surprised (and cautiously optimistic!) to see signs of healing. We’re still not sure if we’ll avoid a partial amputation, but we’re incredibly grateful to have this tool to give Blue’s sweet little tail a fighting chance.
Bonus shoutout: although there was a hiccup with our overnight shipping, we still received the product in just two days, and the owner refunded the extra shipping cost before we even noticed. Top-notch service, all around!

We can’t recommend The Happy Tail Saver enough! Our dog unfortunately got her tail caught in the front door, which caused painful lacerations and eventually led to a partial amputation. If we had purchased the Tail Saver earlier, we feel the amputation could have been avoided entirely.
Once we started using it, the Tail Saver provided incredible comfort for our dog and peace of mind for us. She adjusted to the harness quickly, and it was clear that it brought her relief. The design is not only practical but also well-made and easy to use.

After a 4 week battle trying to get juras tail to heal after a happy tail amputation,We thought it wouldnt hurt to try this harness. Theres absolutely nothing like tuis uet in the uk so was super happy at the very fast delivery, after only 2 days the vets and myself have noticed a huge difference. Juras amputation point is looking good but her bandage rub is still too sore and bleeds to remove all bandages at the moment but this harness is preventing her dressings from getting wet. Which with a dry dressing it's helping with her healing. Vets wanted to take juras tail off completely which I disagreed and wanted to give the harness a try. So far so good. Not out the woods at all but she's progressed more with the harness than I'd ever imagined. The UK vets can't believe this harness even existed
Tail wagging syndrome. He hit the tail various times and wouldn’t let it heal We still haven’t taken the time to wash the wagged blood that is all over our front porch and door. It looks like a crime scene
Unfortunately we were not able to avoid a partial tail amputation with our girl due to a very deep laceration on the tip of her tail. She had about 3 inches of her tail removed. During her 2 week recovery with her sutures, she continued to hit her tail and have some bleeding. After sutures were removed, she still was hitting the tip of her tail and causing bleeding everywhere - turning our house into a crime scene daily. We tried wrapping her tail, putting a sock on it, keeping her in our finished garage to avoid hitting it on things, and nothing worked. We were at a complete loss and figured another tail amputation would be in her future as her wound was not able to heal from her constantly hitting it. Fortunately, after some searching on google, we found the happy tail saver. Though very skeptical at first after seeing some similar things on Amazon with awful reviews, we took a risk and ordered it. It has been one of the best purchases ever! It has been an absolute game changer in healing our dogs tail. She is very social and high energy so keeping her from wagging her tail was impossible. This allowed her to freely play, run, and be back to her normal self again. I am so happy to share that her tail is now almost completely healed and no further tail amputation will be needed. Totally worth every penny spent and has saved so much anxiety both for me and my dog. Pictured is the tail laceration that caused a partial amputation, the tail tip after amputation that would not stop busting open, and her tail now almost completely healed in 2 weeks!
