By the time we found the TailSaver, we had spent nearly $2000 on our dog's badly infected tail-tip injury, which started as a wound so tiny we couldn't see it. We were facing another $4500 for surgery to amputate. Antibiotics cleared the infection, and the TailSaver protected Luke's tail while it healed fully.

If we'd known about the TailSaver going in, we could have stopped this months-long saga in its tracks for a mere $70.

      NOTES:

      - The YouTube video instructions are helpful, so probably start there.

      - We found that the extra strap for the tail (you'll know it when you see it) caused Luke to poop into the Tail Saver. I'm sure we put it on wrong, but he didn't need the additional strap, so I suggest starting without it.

      - We bought one K9 TailSaver and one Replacement Tail sleeve so we could wash one sleeve every day while keeping the other one strapped on. Our vet wanted us to wash the TailSaver frequently, so the 2nd purchase was a matter of convenience.

      - It's easy to wash and dry the TailSaver on the delicate cycle. We washed the sleeve only, not the harness.

      - In case you're wondering, the hair loss on the tip of Luke's tail is due to his injury. The thin hair on the side of his tail, which is growing back, is the result of the vet's shaving his tail.

Every veterinarian in the country should stock this product. Amazing.

      My dog’s tail is healed!

After a few months of trying bandages and “hoping it heals”, we were considering amputation. I am so happy I found this for my dog. She is a bully/mastiff mix and her tail is truly a whip! After about a month and a half her tail was completely healed. So worth buying it. My review of customer service: We had a problem with the original harness and fit for my dog, but customer service with the company is outstanding and they helped solve the problem quickly and efficiently.

      It worked!

The Tail Saver prevented my foster dog from an amputation. It took a bit to get it applied correctly but customer support was excellent. So, relieved that he with afecto have his beautiful tail shortened.

      Phenomenal

Completely AMAZING! An incredible buy, would recommend a million times over! We were worried about amputation for our GSD and this lived up to its name, saved her tail!
She's comfortable wearing it and I can rest easy now knowing she's ok.

      Great solution!

This was literally the only way we have been able to help our dogs tail heal! It protects it and stops our pup from biting/chewing it.

We’ve been using the K9tailsaver without the tail strap that holds the tail against the legs, because our dog’s injury is just the tip. It’s perfect for what we need and still works great!

The only funky thing about the K9tailsaver is the velcro strap over/around the tail. It’s so thin and doesn’t always want to stay. It’s come loose a couple times. (But that’s probably partially because we haven’t been using the tie-down straps.)

Would highly recommend this solution for anyone’s dog with an injured tail. We spent weeks trying to wrap and dress out dogs tail… the K9TailSaver is the only thing we’ve found that works!

      Genuinely saved my dogs tail

I have a pitbull who was continually splitting his tail open from wagging and then gnawing and licking his opened tail. We bandaged it, we tried to keep him calm, we let him sleep in the bed instead of the crate hoping he would heal. Nothing worked. The tailsaver does take time and effort to set up but once you do it and lock your straps, we haven't had to mess with it since. I repeat lock your straps. This tool has been an absolute life saver. The customer service was also outstanding. When I was struggling to get it to fit my dog, they responded immediately and walked me through options. If you're waiting to buy this to see if your dogs tail will get better without this, I'd highly recommend you just buy it now. The money you spend on bandages and the energy you spend cleaning up blood and dealing with this is well worth the $70 and you're going to end up needing the tail saver eventually anyways! 10/10 recommend

Not easy to put on but effective

Ulyx, our great dane had not really a problem to get used to it, he is a patient patient.
The sleeve was of course much too long as a few days before getting it, the vet had to cut off 30cm of the tail. So we doubled the sleeve and it protects his tail now with 2 layers.
Unconvenient is the procedure to get it on, so many laces but once on he is ok.
The only moment he tries to bite it is when he is really happy and wiggles a lot than it seems to annoy him.
A few days ago we took it off and an hour later his tail was bleeding again as he hit it against the table leg. For sure it is the only solution, that we tried so far, that is so effective.
I am a bit worried that the laces around his hipp/legs could cut in his flesh when he us running a lot but for now it seems not to be a problem.
For us it is the perfect solution, faster than doing every day a patted bandage that with 80% of chance just flies away when he is really happy and wiggly.
Thx for this happy tail syndrome protector.

      Thank you

I tried everything but my little dachshund just kept beating her happy tail on everything. The end of her tail was raw and bloody. I ordered this product. The first few days were spent trying to get the right adjustments and she wasn't happy. I did modify the length of the tail saver as her tail is so thin and small it was dragging on the floor. She has gotten use to it and her tail is now healing. This product works and is just what my dachshund needed to protect her tail.

      Great design

We just put in the tailsafer for the first time as our dog chewed the tip of her tail bloody. We tagged teamed to figure out the adjustments and are getting there. Our dog doesn’t seem to mind the set up and we made sure to leave a little wiggle room so she can sit and lay down comfortably. Left off the tail wag strap for now and will keep tweaking the adjustments - we’ll made product and hoping this will be a success for better healing

      Great product but scared dog

I had a friend recommend this product. They showed me the amazing results their dog had. I was excited. It arrived pretty quickly and had easy to follow instructions. I was even able to find a YouTube video for further instruction and assistance. My great dane/king Shephard has a weapon for a tail that's for sure. I was so excited to help her tail heal but.... she was so scared. Like, nearly paralyzed with fear. She wouldn't move except to get on top of me which doesn't work for a giant breed, she's way too heavy! She shook and cried. I even tried to put it on for small increments of time over the next weeks with no improvement. I'm sad but have seen how awesome this could be for other dogs. Back to the vet we go :(
