I was so stressed out trying to keep my retriever’s wild tail clean and protected. The doctor suggested pool noodle or pipe insulation and tape. Well, that would last until a vigorous tail whip and then it soared across the room. I was going crazy! I heard that without proper protection my pup could lose his tail for good. When I googled the “Happy Tail Syndrome”, the K9 TailSaver was the only solution I could find. I was a little hesitant, but it arrived in 3 days! It seemed overwhelming with all the straps, but once it’s on...it’s ON! My dog wasn’t really bothered by the apparatus and he could still go to the bathroom. This was a total game changer. It allowed me to sleep in peace.
If your dog has ever had happy tail you know how hard it is to protect their tail from re-injury every time they wag it. This not only keeps them from licking and chewing it but also protects it was additional wagging trauma.
Only had it a day but can see how it works to keep the tail padded. Dog tolerating it just fine vet took pictures because they had never heard of this product
We were at a loss as to how to keep our puppy from getting at her tail while it healed. We tried so many things! I searched online and found the Happy Tail Saver! Had to watch the video several times to get it in her correctly but it’s been a true saver! Our vet was so impressed he wrote down the name so he could recommend it to others! Thank you! This product truly did save Piper from having her tail removed.
I would add Velcro on outside of tail to allow you to fold up if to long
We tried EVERYTHING to stop our dog from biting her tail and NOTHING worked until K9 TailSaver! In fact, I came to the website today to buy another!
I wish I had found this product after my dog's first tail amputation (due to tumors). I had been cleaning blood from carpets and such (a mere inconvenience) and was looking online for a solution when I found their website. It was a Friday, so I called to ask about next day shipping and had a wonderful conversation with Julie. She was very compassionate, asking about my pup's issues and helped me determine which delivery method would ensure I received the TailSaver on Saturday. Julie even recommended a size other than what I had ordered and then told me she would provide a shorter Tail-Sleeve, given my dog's already shorter tail length.
Julie, he is getting another tail modification surgery today (due to an infection) and I feel better already, knowing we have something to cover his tail that will stay on. Thank you!
Cannot say enough good things about the product and the help we received from Julie! The tail saver is helping our dog stop biting her tail. Wish we found out about this product earlier. Julie was extremely kind and helpful and has a real love for dogs. God bless you.
Really works, totally recommended!
My lab injured the tip of her tail and we were having trouble getting it to heal because she would constantly wag and wack her tail. We took her to the vet who said it would never heal and immediately recommended that we amputate her tail. I decided to try this first and it worked! Her tail healed up completely in about 5 days and she has not yet re injured it. It does take some work to get on but that’s because of how secure it is. If you’re thinking about buying this DO IT .
This is an ingenious product with the best customer service I’ve experienced in a long time. It takes a bit of time to get set up, but it is worth the effort! Really pleased with this product and company!!
Great product and customer service
Positives - fits perfectly around the body and comfortable enough for her to wear all day. It covers her wounded tail so that she cannot lick it and it is healing slowly.
Negatives - very complicated with too many straps. I also submitted exact measurements and although it fits perfectly around her body, the tail sleeve is so long that it drags on the floor!
Happytail has thus far proven to be a tail saver for my lab. For about 3 to 4 months I dealt with our lab biting her entire tail (and I mean like chewing to the point until it was all pink and white). I took her to the vet about 5 times in one month and we could not figure out what was wrong. At one point I had to stay home and babysit her because she would break every cone and rip off every bandage that was put on. We even tried sprays that would "taste bad" to deter biting, but no luck. After the 4th month we really were contemplating have to cut her tail off for her sake and ours, it was getting expensive with bandaging up to 2x a day, everyday and just unhealthy with the amount of infections she got. I searched all over the google until I found the HappyTailSaver and the past month has been such a breeze, after finding the perfect adjustment of course. I am able to leave the house or leave the dogs out of their home at night to roam the yard without having to wake up every few hours to check her tail. It truly has been a tail saver!!
We just received the K9 tail saver today. I watched the how to video, which was very helpful, and it was easy to put in on my Walker Hound Haas. We are praying this is the answer to healing his “happy tail.” We’ve spent hundreds of dollars trying to help our baby, not to mention the time cleaning up blood splatter. I’ll write another review in 30 days and let you know how it’s going.
This tail protector has been amazing! After the initial excitement my puppy is now not bothered about wearing it at all. Although fiddly to begin with, the instructions are clear and once grasped it is easy to use. Our Labs tail is now healing well, but as she is likely to wound it again as she wags so much and so hard, I feel very relieved to have found a product that works. I would not hesitate to recommend it!
We've been struggling with a hot spot on my dog's tail for two weeks. Despite antibiotics, steroids, an allergy shot and 2 different cones of shame - he was still getting at it and it wasn't healing. He's comfortably worn the TailSaver now for 3 days and it's healing up beautifully. Well worth the money! And I'm sure we'll put it to good use again next allergy season. For reference - we have an 80 lb Bernese Mountain Dog / Poodle mix and the Large Long fit perfect. Thank you!!
This product WORKS! Our dog never minded it one bit, tail healed quickly thanks to this harness. Thank u soooooo much!!!
First, let me say that this product has absolutely been amazing for my pup. Before coming across this product I had tried liquid bandage, vet tape, all sorts of sprays, etc. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this product. My pups tail is now almost healed and I cannot be any more grateful for this product. Not only is the product amazing but the customer service I have received has been the best of any company I have ever dealt with. It started before I ever even received my product. Julie reached out to me shortly after I placed my order because the carrier would not have been able to deliver on time. She offered to upgrade my shipping at no cost so that I could get my product as soon as possible which I was extremely grateful for. Fast forward some time as I have now had the tailsaver for a few weeks and been using it on my 8 month old pitbull. My pup snapped one of the jawclips and I reached out to Julie to see if there were any replacement straps that I could purchase. (I don't feel that this has anything to do with the product itself. It is a very well made product. I do have a pitbull and they are very strong dogs!) She offered to send me straps that were stronger and would work better for the kind of pup I have, AT NO COST! I am blown away by the kindness I have received from this company since day one.
Our lab mix Baylee had a great day at the creek. She waded, swam, and splashed around!! This creek has many springs in it so it in some places the water is very cold! That would feel good on a hot day!! She was pooped when we left the farm and came home. She was so sandy and muddy, she needed to be sprayed off before going in the house. That night we knew she was tired. But even a couple of days later she wasn’t herself. Her tail hung down and she wouldn’t wag it. She wanted out, then in. She went back and forth too much. We decided she was in pain and called the vet! Probably a strained muscle. So we gave children’s liquid ibuprofen and she did act some better. But still wouldn’t wag her tail. I got on line and discovered swimmer’s tail and even cold water tail. Had never heard of that before!! They use their tails like a rudder and can over use it. This described her perfectly. So before we knew it she had started licking a spot on her tail and nibbling it probably because her tail hurt!! We tried bitter taste wrapping, pool noodle, bitter spray, and all the rest. She was making it bigger and bleeding. We tried a muzzle and a cone!! They barely slowed her down. Then we got the inflation collar! It did work pretty good but she could even get to her tail with that on!! She would stop licking when we caught her, but out of our sight was a different story. We continued to wrap it and the vet had given a steroid shot and antibiotics that we were giving by mouth. Got on the web again and found Happy Tail, which we had tried to make on our own with, straps and belts and denim.
She’s wearing it tonight and we actually think we can save her tail and our lives too. We got so tired of trying to figure out a plan!!
This is well made and you can tell a lot of thought went into this gear!! It sure gives us hope for saving her tail. Wish we could have saved all the money and time we wasted on things that didn’t work!! She is calm and wearing it just fine.
My dog went home with a giant cone after a visit from the vet for a tail injury. After hours of my dog standing in one place and panting/shaking so hard she was just exhausted. I knew I had to find some other way of protecting the wound. I tried wrapping it gently with no chew wrap though after a little while, it would just fall off. Then I found the Tail Saver after doing an internet search. This thing has seriously been a lifesaver from the minute I put it on my dog. It takes a while to figure out all the adjustments but once you have it fitted, it’s super easy to maintain. My dog is able to eat/drink, lay down and go potty without any trouble. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that the universal strap doesn’t always stay clipped and since my dog has a tail that curls upwards, the tail sleeve just comes right off if that strap is not secure. Otherwise, this thing is an amazing invention for protecting tails. Her injury is definitely beginning to resolve and it’s all because of this device. I’m super thankful it’s out there! And the customer service is superb!
I am incredibly happy that I purchased the tail saver! My older Lab was losing the hair on his tail from a thyroid issue and made it vulnerable to happy tail. I was so concerned that he'd have to lose his tail, as was the vet. I ordered this product out of desperation and I am SO glad I did. He has been wearing the tail saver long term as the tail has healed and we wait for the hair to grow back now that he's on the correct medication dosage. The customer service has been amazing; they worked with me to identify the best fit for my boy and even offered alternative solutions for me at NO cost. I sized up from a L to XL since he is a large English Lab and it fits like a charm. He can wear it fairly long term with no discomfort and most importantly it saved his tail. Highly highly recommend!
Great idea and item. Easy to do and works well
The only thing better than this product is the costumer service you receive. Both are A++ and will definitely recommend to anyone looking for an alternative to the cone of shame.
